Things to do in Leicester this week: Bouncy Castles, A Space Festival & Shakespeare on Bikes
Morning Leicester! Get ready for a weekend that’s equal parts bounce, brains and Bard. Abbey Park is transforming into a mega inflatable playground, the Space Centre is going intergalactic with a real astronaut in tow, and the Guildhall is swapping horse power for pedal power as the HandleBards bring Shakespeare on two wheels. Throw in vegan feasts, art markets, and even a bottomless prosecco cake-decorating class, and you’ve got no excuse for staying in.

Abbey Park is turning into one massive inflatable playground for the weekend. We’re talking bouncy castles, obstacle courses and a brand new under-6s zone so the little ones don’t get trampled by their older siblings. Grab a wristband and it’s unlimited bouncing all day long, with ice cream and snacks on hand for when you need a breather. Pay on the day and let them jump themselves tired while you secretly eye up the slides too.

🎭 ACTIVITY ALLEY

The National Space Centre is throwing a one-day festival celebrating the UK’s big wins in space, with astronaut reserve John McFall dropping in as special guest. There are hands-on activities, live talks from top scientists, interactive workshops, and an immersive planetarium show to get you starry-eyed. From Leicester’s role in unlocking Mars mysteries to building mini satellites, it’s a full-on cosmic day out.

The HandleBards are pedalling their props, costumes and chaos right into the Guildhall for Much Ado About Nothing. Four actors, two wheels, and enough energy to make Shakespeare feel like a comedy gig. Beatrice, Benedick, rivalries and romance — all delivered with plenty of laughter and a dash of mayhem.
