It’s all about apples at Saffron Acres’ annual Community Apple Day. Collect fruit from the orchard, taste freshly pressed juice, and see the new Apple Barn officially opened. There’ll be apple pressing demos, heritage scything, forest school activities, kids in mini bee suits, plus tasters of Tai Chi and Eco Nidra. A proper family day with plenty of juice to take home.

Kayal has been serving Kerala’s backwater cuisine in Leicester since 2004 – and the menu is as legendary as the awards on their wall. Jonathan Lo leads the Bardi Symphony Orchestra in a programme that feels straight out of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The concert opens with Max Steiner’s ground-breaking Casablanca suite, followed by Korngold’s sweeping Violin Concerto, performed by Zoë Beyers of the BBC Philharmonic. It all closes with Rachmaninov’s grand Symphony No. 2, packed with drama and emotion that would outshine any film score.
