Things to do this week: Ginger's Flea Vintage Market, Midlands Makers May Market, Plus Queen of the Night!
Morning! Big weekend for markets and music. Ginger's Flea is at The Venue at DMU on Sunday with five hours of vintage fashion, records, indie makers, and street food for £3. The day before, Midlands Makers takes over LCB Depot on Saturday with 45+ vendors. Then Saturday night, the UK's biggest Whitney Houston tribute hits De Montfort Hall.
Also this week, Midge Ure is at De Montfort Hall on Monday, Roland Gift does 40 years of Fine Young Cannibals on Friday, and the Elder Emo Day Party is at 2Funky on Saturday afternoon.

Ginger’s Flea is back at The Venue at DMU on Sunday with vintage fashion from the 60s to the 90s, retro homewares, records, plants, indie makers, and street food all under one roof. You’ll walk in saying “just browsing” and leave holding a leather jacket, an oddly expensive candle, and a framed print you now feel emotionally attached to.
£3 entry, under 12s free. Pre-book for priority entry and first look at the suspiciously good homeware section.

SCRUMPTIOUS SCOOP
☕️ - Afternoon Tea, Tiny Cakes, and The Sudden Urge To Become More Elegant!
📍 - The Grand Hotel, Granby Place
📷 - @thegrandhotelleicester
Afternoon tea at O.W. inside The Grand Hotel turns an ordinary afternoon into the type of outing that somehow ends with everyone sitting up straighter. Freshly baked scones, handcrafted patisserie, delicate sandwiches, and Newby Teas of London arrive slowly enough that nobody feels rushed into real life again too quickly.
There’s a Prosecco option if you’re celebrating something, and a Champagne option if the group chat said “let’s be sensible” before immediately ignoring itself. Vegan and children’s menus available too.

Queen of the Night returns to De Montfort Hall with live vocals, a full band, and enough Whitney Houston hits to turn the entire room into an emotional support choir.
The show has already sold out arenas and played the Royal Albert Hall and London Palladium, and now Leicester gets a night of I Wanna Dance With Somebody, The Greatest Love of All, I Will Always Love You, and several audience members discovering they’ve been dramatically overestimating their vocal range for years.
