Abbey Pumping Station is going full gala mode for its annual Summer Family Fun Day. Expect vintage vehicles, stalls, live music from the Leicester Community Concert Band, and the mighty beam engines in steam. There’s even coal-fired chips from a vintage chip van, a gin and cocktail bar, and rides on the Steam Locomotive Railway for just 50p. Whether you’re here for the history, the games, or the snacks, it’s an afternoon made for all ages.

Abbey Park’s getting a full-on glow-up for the weekend as Leicester Mela rolls in with live music, Bollywood dance, and street food that’ll have you queueing twice. Browse stalls stacked with jewellery, colourful clothes and sweet treats, or wander over to the Kid’s Village for crafts, funfair rides and an Indian Circus. It’s basically a massive summer party with something for everyone.

Spend a couple of hours making chocolates that smell as good as they taste. You’ll infuse your creations with essential oils like wild orange, peppermint or even salt and black pepper, then pop them in moulds before taking them home in a fancy choc box. While they set, you’ll learn how these oils can be used for a bit of everyday TLC. Maximum six people per session
