Things to do this week in Leicester: The Black Horse Summer Festival, Britcon 2025 and a Quacking Day at Newarke Houses Museum!
Morning! Leicester’s got a bit of everything this week, a pub festival that’s basically an excuse for four days of pints and live tunes, kids getting one last crack at glue and glitter before school looms, and Britcon rolling in with dice, tabletop battles and a bar for when the strategy gets stressful. Throw in salsa, bingo, markets, and even a Floyd & Queen show at the Space Centre, and you’ve got no chance of a quiet one.

The Black-Horse is rolling out its Summer Festival once again with live music, comedy, food, cocktails, beers and ciders flowing across the long weekend. The big day lands Sunday with a full line-up still to be revealed, but you can bet on plenty of laughs, tunes and pints in the sun (if the weather holds up its end of the bargain).

The Guildhall is wrapping up the school holidays with one final crafty free-for-all. Beads, buttons, ribbons, pipe cleaners, paper weaving, fabric pens — if it sticks, sparkles or scribbles, it’s on the table. Bring a T-shirt or pillowcase to customise and let the kids loose before summer officially clocks out.

Britcon has landed in Leicester for the first time, bringing three days of competitive tabletop battles, tournaments and a trade show full of wargaming treasures.
