Things to do this week: R&B Day Fest, Queen Heaven at the Space Centre, Plus Kids Eat Free at Giggling Squid!
Morning! Half term week and it's a good one. The R&B Day Fest takes over Frog Island on Saturday with seven hours of old school and new school R&B outdoors from 3pm. Thursday night, Queen Heaven turns the UK's largest planetarium into a full surround-sound Queen experience, and there's Clay Play Day at The Guildhall on Wednesday for the kids.
Also this week, Troy Hawke is at De Montfort Hall on Thursday, TaylorMania is on Saturday afternoon, and the Half Term Railway Day is at Abbey Pumping Station on Tuesday if you need something to do with the little ones.

Leicester R&B Day Fest takes over Frog Island on Saturday with seven straight hours of old school and new school R&B, full festival production, DJs all day, and a crowd that absolutely will not let a Usher chorus go quietly.
Food and drinks are on site, the dancefloor will slowly turn into a mass singalong by sunset, and somebody's phone storage is getting sacrificed for Instagram stories before 5pm.
Tickets start from £15, outdoors all day, doors from 3pm.

SCRUMPTIOUS SCOOP
🦑 - Giggling Squid - Salt and Pepper Squid, Pad Thai, and Kids Eating Free This Half Term!
📍- 3-5 St Martin's Court Square
⏰ - Mon to Wed, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM
⏰ - Thu to Sat, 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM
⏰ - Sun, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Giggling Squid's menu is one of those dangerous ones where you go in saying "we'll keep it simple" and immediately lose control around the starters.
Salt and Pepper Squid, Giggling Wings, Pad Thai, Duck Confit, and a Lamb Shank Massaman that's quietly built itself a loyal following for very good reason.
This half term, kids eat free with every adult main ordered too, which means the children are technically the excuse while the adults order Thai food they were already planning to get anyway.
Running until Sunday 31st May, dine-in only.
ACTIVITY ALLEY
🎸 - Queen Heaven - Freddie Mercury in a Planetarium Feels Like the Correct Use of Technology!
📍- National Space Centre, Exploration Drive
📅 - Thursday 29th May
⏰ - 7:00 PM or 9:00 PM (doors 6:00 PM)
🎟️ - £20
📷 - @spacecentre
Queen Heaven is turning the UK's largest planetarium into a full surround-sound Queen experience with Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You and more blasting out beneath a dome full of immersive visuals.
Honestly, if there was ever a song designed for dramatic lights, galaxies spinning overhead, and strangers aggressively singing the "Galileo" bit together, it was Bohemian Rhapsody.
The whole thing's been approved by Queen themselves, which means somewhere along the line somebody had to professionally explain "laser Queen in space" and somehow got the green light.
Two screenings on the night, bar and cafe open throughout.

FRESH EXPERIENCES
🎨 - Clay Play Day - Half Term Arts and Crafts with a Strong Chance of Paint on Somebody's Sleeve!
📍- The Guildhall, Guildhall Lane
📅 - Wednesday 28th May
⏰ - 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
🎟️ - £4 per child in advance, £5 on the door, adults free
📷 - @leicestermuseums
Clay Play Day lands at The Guildhall this half term with air drying clay, face painting, trails around the historic building, and children proudly creating objects that may or may not resemble what they originally intended.
There'll be extra crafts running throughout the day too, with plenty to keep small hands busy while parents quietly accept that glitter and clay are now entering the house later.
Adults go free, but definitely bring wipes and something sturdy enough to transport the "masterpiece" home safely.
