Things to do this week: The Archway Art and Crafts Event, Tez Ilyas Live, Plus Some-Antics Poetry Slam!

Morning! Sorry for the gap since the last one, we've been away travelling for a bit. Back now. This week, The Archway hosts a free art and crafts day on Saturday with plants, kids crafts and food, Tez Ilyas is testing brand new material at The Black Horse on Friday for eight quid, and Some-Antics are running their last poetry night before the summer break.

Four hours of art, crafts, tunes and food in the Archway, with free plants and children's crafts running out in the garden. There's gardening, weaving, and enough going on to keep small hands busy while you have a wander.

There are also books and games if you just want to sit in the cool and do absolutely nothing, which is a rare and underrated offer at a community event.

The R&D on Millstone Lane has been one of the city's favourites for years, and with good reason. Three cask conditioned ales, two stouts, four ciders, rotating local craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails, and a courtyard garden and roof terrace that come into their own the moment the sun shows up. In summer, The Pizza Shed fires up outside too.

The new bit worth knowing about is the weekday lunch offer. An 8oz dry aged rump and chuck steak burger in a Wildfarmed brioche bun with Stokes ketchup, French's mustard, pub pickled red onions, and garlic salt fries. £9.95, weekdays only, 12pm to 2pm. Which is a very persuasive argument for taking a lunch break.

Tez Ilyas is at The Black Horse on Friday working out fresh jokes, furious rants, and ridiculous stories ahead of his nationwide tour this autumn. You've seen him on Live at the Apollo and Man Like Mobeen, and he's a Sunday Times bestselling author on top of that.

It's a work in progress show, which means the material is new, the reactions are honest, and eight pounds gets you in before the rest of the country pays a lot more for the finished version. Strictly 18+.

Some-Antics take over The Nest upstairs at Phoenix for their last night before the summer break. Open mic, a poetry slam with a £25 cash prize, the world-famous Some-Antics raffle, Ninja Bob on the tunes, and current Slam Champion Anna Knight as the special feature.

Open mic slots are three minutes a poet and there are five slam slots up for grabs, so message them on Instagram if you fancy it. Four pounds to get in, and if that's a barrier they'll sort you a complimentary ticket, no questions.
